Why go for washables?
Save at least £400 per baby compared to disposable nappies. Purest for your baby - naturally absorbent so no need for gels or chemicals. Best for the environment less resources used, nothing goes to landfill.
How easy are they to use?
They take a little more effort than disposables, but are well worth trying. We recommend starting with washable nappies when your baby is 8 to 12 weeks old.
If you want to start earlier, then Bamboo or Bambino Mio are the best to use.
How many do I need?
Newborn babies may need to be changed 8 or so times every day, so you will need at least 16 nappies.
You may only need 4 6 nappy covers as these are less likely to be soiled.
Older babies may only need 4 changes each day, so 8 nappies and 4 covers should be enough.
How to use washable nappies?
1. Half fill a Nappy Bucket with water and add a shake of Bambino Mio Nappy Fresh to make it smell nice.
2. Put a Nappy Mesh into the bucket to make it easy to pull the nappies out!
3. When your babys nappy needs changing, remove nappy liner and throw into the loo,
4. Put the nappy and cover into the bucket.
5. When the bucket is full or youre about to start a clothes wash, take the bucket to the washing machine, pull the nappies out (in the nappy mesh bag) and put into the machine.
6. Hang out to dry over night.
It has been said that the hardest thing about using washable nappies is choosing which ones you like best! Unlike with disposable nappies, there's a vast range of reusable nappies to choose from, which is great because there are washable nappies to cover every budget, function, and taste possible. Beaming babys range of washable nappies is selected to include some of the most tried and tested types and brands of reusable nappies. Our range includes, Motherease toweling cloth nappies, Bambino Mio prefold reusable nappies, and Bamboo washable nappies. All the cloth nappies we stock are very user-friendly, as we believe that the easier it is to use the nappies, the more likely people are to get on with them and stick with washable nappies. Cotton grown without the use of chemicals produces a superior quality garment whereas the chemicals used to grow conventional cotton weaken the fibres. Organic cloth will wear, wash and dry well, making organic cotton clothing or organic cotton washable nappies last and last. Reusable nappies do not contain any potentially harmful super-absorbent gels, deodorants or chemicals. Washable nappies give parents control over what they put next to their baby's sensitive and absorbent skin and are soft and comfortable. Research has shown that babies using reusable nappies are less likely to get nappy rash We hope we have covered the choices our customers require, our organic cotton washable nappies give you the option to care for the environment and most importantly for your babys delicate skin.
Popularity
Kooshies are our best seller. They are also the best value washable nappies.
Bambino Mio are the next favourite - also used in hospitals and nurseries.
My personal favourite is Motherease - we found these were the best in terms of leakage and baby comfort.
The purest nappy for sensitive baby skin is the Organic Motherease nappy used with the Organic Imse Cover best for your baby and the environment.
Liners and Absorbency Pads - (people refer to both as liners, but they have different uses)
Liners - a thin tissue to keep baby's bottom dry
Absorbency Pads - a towelling or cotton pad for extra absorbency
Liners - we recommend Bambino Mio Biodegradable Liners, these are best used when your baby is eating solid food, and can be flushed down the loo!
Absorbency Pads - we recommend Bambinex (Bamboo) for newborns and Imse Organic Cotton Pads for older babies.
